Set Up Your First Job
Hand Hubi a real task and get it running in a Slack channel, step by step.
Set Up Your First Job
A Job turns a goal into a teammate. You describe what you want, Hubi sets up a dedicated Slack channel, and from then on it handles that work on its own. Here is the full walkthrough.
1. Describe the Job
Open the dashboard and go to the Jobs tab. In the box that asks "What job should Hubi take care of?", describe the outcome in plain language:
"Run our weekly competitor recap - every Monday, summarize what our top three competitors shipped and post it for the team."
Hubi drafts the Job: a title, a Slack channel name, a Brain folder, the integrations it will use, and a starter skill with instructions.
2. Review the Draft
Check what Hubi proposed and adjust anything:
- Rename the Job or its Slack channel.
- Edit the description.
- Add or remove suggested integrations.
- Tweak the skill name and the instructions Hubi will follow.
When it looks right, submit. Hubi creates the Brain folder and drops you into the Job's setup checklist.
3. Complete the Setup Steps
Most steps tick themselves off the moment the real thing exists - you rarely mark anything by hand:
- Connect Slack if it is not already connected for your workspace.
- Pick the channel Hubi will work in. This unlocks the rest of the steps. Then invite @Hubi to that channel in Slack so it can post there.
- Create the Brain folder with one click - this holds the Job's context.
- Connect any integrations the Job needs.
- Add the skill so Hubi knows exactly how to do the work.
4. Test It
Say hello to Hubi in the channel, or give it a small task, to confirm it responds. Mark the Test it step done once you have seen Hubi reply.
5. Let It Run
Add the suggested automation to put the Job on a schedule, and you are done. The Job moves from Needs setup to Active, and Hubi runs it on its own from here.
Tips
- Start narrow - one clear outcome per Job works better than a vague catch-all.
- Feed the folder - drop brand guidelines, examples, or reference docs into the Job's Brain folder so Hubi has context.
- Iterate in the channel - reply in-thread to refine Hubi's output, just like working with a teammate.
